You can read my shortfiction “Literature’s class” in miNatura Magazine’s issue 103th. This one is a special issue about Edgar Allan Poe. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Dear Sir,

I am the mother of one of your first course’s student, Vincent Clemm. Lately, my son has changed and I am not completely sure to be able to understand it. From being a happy child, now he has become into a gloom teenager who only wants to dress in black and wakes every night screaming that he doesn’t want to be buried alive. He repeats it until falling sleep but he still looks around uneasily. Last week he threw away all his toys and belongings to spend all day long with the computer. I try to accept it since he is a teenager and he will grow up and change. However, he is getting obsessed because of a silly assignment for his literature class. For this reason, I would like you to talk Miss Raven, Leonor Raven and put my son into a different teacher’s class. Actually I decided to write to you because my son has got done a tattoo. It is a black raven on his back. Of course, I am not so naive to ignore that it is a reference to the above mentioned teacher. Having said that, I don’t have any proof that just a crush by a minor to his tutor but I don’t want this could go forward. So I do expect you to do something to solve it otherwise I would be forced to take this issue to Parents Board.

I am looking forward to hearing from you. Your sincerely.

Virginia Clemm

May’s writing challenge: results
June 6th, 2010 under Words Challenge. [ Comments: none ]

The writing challenge of 6K words per week has been a success during May. There hasn’t been any week where I couldn´t reach that number of words and today, my novel has reached 50K words. We’ll see how it goes in June.

The next goal is get 70k words done at the end of this month and if everything is going on as good as so far, I´d have the first draft done at the beginning of August.

Walking in the gap
Made by the laughter
And the games
In the playgrounds.
Sliding among the hours
When the dreams
Fade away in the clouds.

There are no more paths
where I would like to go.

In my blog, a place to call my own, I´ve just written what April Poetry challenge has meant to me. To be honest, it has been a very interesting experience and I would like to continue having a good rythmn. I´ve found out the deadlines works very well with me and last summer I started writing a novel that because of some exams and some blocks, I haven’t finished it yet.  So this month challenge is going to be writing siz thousand words per week. I think I could have my first draft done in three months or at least, I hope to be about to get done at that time.

During the first week, instead of six thoursand words, I’ve written six thousand two hundred words. Now I have a new week ahead so I hope to reach the goal as well.

For today’s prompt, write a letting go poem.

After the war, there is no fading in my scars
after the rain, there is no door to close behind
when everything was said but nothing done
It’s time to let storm light my way out of here

The prompt today is a free day.

The animal is out the cage,
running away from the cold
biting the hand who writes
Ink is not enough for her words
Crucified to her high heels
Rules pulled the leash too tight
Led with a blind guide
in a minefield.

In the exile there is no salvation
but who needs any when you could have freedom?

For today’s prompt, I want you to take the phrase “And Suddenly (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write the poem.

And suddenly, a doorway

You pulled out my wings and made me eat them.
No god to believe in but pain, hatred and guilt.

And suddenly, a doorway out
In through which I crawled.

For this prompt, choose your favorite newspaper or online news provider. Jot down five to ten headlines that jump out at you and without reading the articles, select elements from each headline to create a new event about which your poem reports.

A reaper in China collects souls
an earthquake hits South America
some nurses hold God’s hands
kids mistake hunger for beauty
my friends are losing their jobs
meanwhile my hands have a hole
youth embraces the needle
those who promised a miracle
are stealing our innocence.
Since hell’s gates were closed
We don’t have elsewhere to go.
